The Pink Elephant in the Room: Fighting Negativity

Did you know that the human mind has 60,000 thoughts a day? That’s a lot of talking to yourself!

 

85% of those thoughts are on autopilot. That means if you’re thinking something negative about yourself or your brand, you’re constantly mulling over the same negative thought on a daily basis, whether it be fear, doubt, or insecurity. They can sound like this, “No one wants to buy this product. I’ll never be an entrepreneur. I mind as well stay at this desk forever. I don’t know the first thing about starting a business. I don’t think I’ll be good enough.”

 

So how do we tackle this problem?

 

How you react to negativity is a breakthrough that will change your life. Stop letting those negative thoughts be the pink elephant in your mind!

 

That means:

 

  1. No Ignoring: When you hear a negative thought conjure up in your mind, open your mouth and declare a positive to counteract that thought. Remember, whatever stays in your mind has power over you.

  2. Get to Writing: Ever See “Being Mary Jane” on BET? Gabrielle Union’s character was a writing fan. She had post-it’s up on her mirror with positive confirmation. If you see it, say it aloud. The more you speak it, the more it moves into fruition.

  3. You Get Out of it, What You Put In: What are you listening to these days? Any uplifting podcasts? TED Talks? Positive affirmation evangelists? It all matters. If you’re not feeding your soul with goodness, how can you drown out those thoughts?

 

See negativity as a gift to push you forward. Are you going to ignore it, or are you going to call it out and develop your overcoming strategy? Be blessed, CEOs!
