IMM Magazine (Innovative Minds Media) is a digital media publication affiliated under IMM Branding Agency.  IMM Magazine serves as a plethora of information and resources for the modern day entrepreneur. The magazine highlights entrepreneurs in several industries, such as fashion, entertainment, events, and lifestyle.

We are currently hiring for a part-time Chief Magazine Editor to lead editorial functions for IMM Magazine and oversee the production of content for the publication. Specifically the Chief Magazine Editor will also lead a revamping of the magazine. This is a high-profile role which includes developing guidelines, determining content strategy, reviewing content, contributing to editorial pieces, and managing day-to-day operations for the magazine. This role offers the candidate a total immersion into a highly competitive branding market and the successful candidate will work closely with key members of staff, contributing writers, and photographers in a business-to-business environment.



Virtual Position: The Chief Editor is expected to work part-time which could include a planned schedule of Monday through Friday, 15 hours/weekly. This position reports to Matia Johnson-Buggs, CEO/Founder. Position requires a face to face weekly virtual meeting.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Approving the publication's layout, design, style, and tone

  • Work closely with the CEO to develop editorial boards for upcoming publications, issues, and campaigns

  • Make final decisions about which stories, articles and photographs to publish

  • Collaborate with the IMM Graphic Designer to approve every layout, design, style, and tone

  • Ensuring all copies have proper voice, context, balance and clarity and are in line with the editorial strategy

  • Collaborating with the team's consultant photographer to collect photos for each quarterly issue front cover

  • Ensuring all information in articles and stories has been properly fact checked

  • Provide suggestions for edits when needed

  • Writing editorial pieces to contribute to the publication

  • Hiring and developing contributing writers and editors

  • Monitor online subscriptions

  • Work with the CEO on magazine events and highlights


  • A four-year university degree/diploma in Journalism, Communications or a related field

  • A solid experience in leading editorial publications

  • Strong editing skills

  • An in-depth knowledge of AP and Chicago style

  • A strong leader who possesses exceptional writing, interpersonal, communication, and research skills

  • The ability to take lead and also work with an innovative team

  • Strong attention to detail
